We were going to use this space to bi*ch about the weather, but we won't. What's the point? Mother nature sees it fit to positively dump on us at least once a month (or three times a season, whichever comes first), and there's nothing you, me, or Dave Snider can do about it.
Anyway, break that coat back out of the closet and bundle up for a weekend of stuff to do. Here are the highlights.
And do you like what you see? Do you want more GO goodness (including a weekend planner) straight in your inbox every Friday morning? If so, sign up for our GO Stop newsletter here.
Friday
3 Doors Down with Red at the Shrine Mosque, 8 p.m. $48.50
One of the biggest concerts of the year, to this point. This is cock rock at its best.
The God Committee at Vandivort Center Theatre, 7:30 p.m., $14-$18
Any play that bills itself as "ER" meets "12 Angry Men" at least has our attention. Let the moral compromise commence!
Jazz in the Atrium at Houlihan’s, all night No cover, $6 appetizers
There's a good bit of diversity at Houlihan's tonight, where you can listen to some light jazz or watch the NCAA tournament.
Saturday
Sweetwater Abilene, The Cropdusters, Adam Fawcett at The Outland, 9 p.m., Cover TBA
The NORML show is upstairs at the Ballroom, but the music to hear is downstairst. Hit both if you can.
Men About Town Benefit, Doubletree Hotel Springfield, 6 p.m., $30
This event benefits the Sertoma Club and its charities, and includes live and silent auction, fashion shows, and more
Frog Eye Jug Band at Lindberg’s, 9 p.m., Cover TBA
Listen to some top local country/bluegrass at Lindberg's tonight.
Sunday
Columbinus at Vandivort 2nd Stage, 2 p.m., $12
This play, based on the stories of survivors and others involved with the Columbine High School shootings of 10 years ago, promises to be a tearjerker, but a worthwhile one.
Trivia night at Patton Alley Pub, 7 p.m., Free
Think you have what it takes to usher in a new week a trivia champion (albeit a hung over one)? Prove it tonight.
Shane and Marcus at Ebbets Field, 9 p.m., Free
The duo from Speakeasy plays every Sunday night, including this one (whew!).
'Til next week!
