Remmington's Free Shows
In an effort to show that Remmington's Downtown is still an all-ages venue, promoter Kevin Willis says he and Remmington's owner Stevie Mix are planning a series of monthly, free all-ages shows beginning in January. The first show on the docket, Willis says, will be a showcase show for Zero Youth Records and will include local acts Brutally Frank and The Adrenals in late January, though a specific date was not confirmed at press time.Holidays Reunite Jah Roots, Too
Jah Roots's show at The Outland on Christmas night will be special for the band as well as for concertgoers. Bassist Steve Washburn says the show will reunite the group with saxophone player Grant Maledy, who took a job this school year as an assistant director of bands at Branson High School. Maledy says he teaches junior high bands, marching bands, jazz bands, choir and even color guard. Maledy says he misses the downtown music scene and being with Jah Roots on the road, but he enjoys working with Branson students and feels what he's doing is important work. In addition to the Christmas concert, look for Maledy to be on stage with Jah Roots this Saturday at The Outland for a post-Thanksgiving celebration, too.Moon Shakers Are Back!
The Black Vultures are dead. Long live the Moon Shakers. Yes, the three Marrone brothers- Paul, Joe and Vinny-reclaimed the name that brought them fame, although they did not bring back any former band members while doing so. The group continues as a trio.-Chris DeRosier
