Ask Mr. Foodie
Summertime is turkey burger time.
How do you make a turkey burger dinner for four people?
Easy. Buy Kaiser buns and toppings: a red onion, a ripe avocado, a lime, a ripe tomato, sliced Swiss cheese and spinach. Next, buy ground turkey… the slightly fatty 85/15 grind. Wash vegetables and slice toppings. Smash avocado with a fork in a small bowl. Season with salt and a little black pepper; add juice of half a lime.
Next, make the burgers. Finely mince three slices of onion. Place in a large mixing bowl with the ground turkey. Add 1 egg. Season with ground pepper, salt and a few shakes of hot paprika. Mix with your fingers and form into four patties.
Lay a sheet of heavy-duty foil on the grill and lay the burgers on top of it. They’ll need to broil rather than grill, for about 4 minutes per side. They’re safe to eat when they’re no longer pink in the center. Toast buns.
Spread avocado purée on one bun before adding turkey burger. Then add toppings to taste. Serve with Cape Cod Sea Salt & Black Pepper chips and pitted kalamata olives. Heineken or Corona pair well.
