Push Play: iPod Play Lists

Catanese

David Catanese, political reporter, KY3

“I think we enjoy music because it transplants us from where we are or what we are doing to another time and place. So ‘Lollipop’ might remind me of a good time at Icon with friends, while ‘Pretty Buildings’ brings back memories of a relaxing flight back from Chicago. I also think my music has balance. I like stuff that has a strong enough beat to keep me going on my run, to songs that are slow enough to allow me to think about my day, or a story idea. And of course, stuff you can sing to (alone) in the car. Oh, and did I mention this white boy loves the hip-hop?”

David’s play list:

“Handlebars,” Flobots
“Spaz,” N.E.R.D.
“Lollipop (Remix with Kanye West),” Lil Wayne
“Summertime,” New Kids on the Block
“L.E.S. Artistes,” Santogold
“No Matter What,” T.I.
“Standing In the Way of Control,” Gossip
“Viva la Vida,” Coldplay
“Got Money,” Lil Wanye & T-Pain
“Pretty Buildings,” People in Planes
“Forever,” Chris Brown
“Leavin’,” Jesse McCartney

McGee

Mary McGee, owner, Shae Belle

“I love all kinds of music, but I am an 80’s girl at heart... Bring back Milli Vanilli! My iPod is full of songs that everyone knows… songs that are fun to karaoke to.”

Mary’s play list:

“It’s the End of the World as We Know It,” R.E.M.
“Like a Rolling Stone,” Bob Dylan
“Crush,” Dave Matthews Band
“Hey Jude,” The Beatles
“How Sweet It Is,” James Taylor
“Ice Ice Baby,” Vanilla Ice
“Fly Me to the Moon,” Frank Sinatra
“Goodbye My Lover,” James Blunt
“You Know I’m No Good,” Amy Winehouse
