Two-Minute Review: Pizza Stop

Two-Minute Review: Pizza Stop

You’ll find Pizza Stop and its tasty, super-cheap pizzas tucked into a shopping center next to Longhorn Grill (the restaurants are actually connected; don’t get confused, your server will probably be wearing a Longhorn Grill T-shirt) in the extreme southwestern corner of town, at Republic Road and Kansas Expressway. the restaurant identity crisis won’t stand in the way of some great pizza, though, and at a steal of a price, too. For a large pizza with any two toppings—or four if you do half one set of toppings, half another—plus a large order of cheese bread, you’ll pay— get this—$10.99.

It’s enough food to feed a basketball team, so bring friends or be ready to take home lots of leftovers. The cheese bread alone is the size of a medium pizza, with your choice of Alfredo or marinara sauce to dip (we requested ranch, too, which came at no extra charge) and by the time the pizza came, we were stuffed. The pizza is made with more types of cheese than just mozzarella, including cheddar and what looked like colby jack—whatever it was it gave the pizza a lot more tang than others. And Pizza Stop (1645 W. Republic Rd., 417-447-1064) won’t skimp on the toppings, either. Your veggies are huge slices of mushroom, green pepper and onions. You can get creative mixing your toppings: a half green pepper and mushroom, half Canadian bacon and pineapple? No problem.

Don’t be too scared by the little kids’ games in the corner that will ring and play carnival music—just don’t sit right next to them. Better yet, you might just order your pizza at the Longhorn Grill, which has a full service bar right next door. Kid-friendliness aside, for taste and price Pizza Stop is worth a visit.
