Ever since GO Magazine Publisher Gary Whitaker told us that he was going to the Grammy Awards, we’ve been a bit hypnotized by the annual music awards. But awards season isn’t over yet; the Academy Awards are coming up fast. Last week we put a series of polls on our shiny new website, springfieldgo.com, and asked you who deserves to take home an Oscar on February 25. Best Actress: Helen Mirren
Best Actor: Forest Whitaker
Best Director: Martin Scorcese
Best Picture: Babel
Opinion:
The Oscars used to love the disabled (see: the whole late ’80s and early ’90s), now they love accurate impressions (Hilary Swank, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jamie Foxx). Helen Mirren, Forest Whitaker and Eddie Murphy do good impressions. Check. And they gave that preachy piece of crap Crash Best Picture last year, so they'll give it to Babel this year. Damn.Should Be:
Best Foreign Film: Pan's LabyrinthBest Supporting Actress: Rinko Kikuchi, Babel (even though the movie blew)
Best Supporting Actor: Alan Arkin, Little Miss Sunshine
Best Actress: Helen Mirren, The Queen
Best Actor: Forest Whitaker, The Last King of Scotland (Ryan Gosling? Almost)
