2-Minute Review: Bubbles
A small sign on a building on Patton Alley tells those fortunate enough to see it that they’ve arrived at Bubbles Champagne Lounge, in the former Bijan’s Under the Tower location. There’s no phone listing, no sign. “This place doesn’t technically exist,” our server, Megan, told us.
It’s a pretty hip sensation, the question of its existence aside, when you walk in to the compact room where neon blue lights accent the art deco motif. Booths line the outside, while the middle of the hardwood floor is set up with open “bars” running perpendicular to the front.
Bubbles is a lounge, and while they offer a small hors d’ouevres menu and very limited desserts, it’s really all about the bubbly. This is a place to go after dinner, not for dinner.
The drink menu features $5 “Bubblicious Champagne Cocktails,” drinks that come with fun names like the Big O, Bubble Bath and Bubble Truffle. Eight varieties of Martinis ($6.50 each) will satisfy the mixed-drink lovers, and wine or beer is available if you really don’t want to drink champagne or sparkling wine.
Why wouldn’t you, though, when you can get everything from sweet Asti to Roederer Cristal? Bottles go from $27.95 to $399.95, and there are choices for every palate and occasion.
Bubbles by the glass aren’t truly “by the glass,” but rather single serving 187-milliliter bottles with the glass on the side.
The desserts are fantastic, but are brought over from Flame, so be sure to allow some time when you order.
